It's August, it's hot... it's time to deep dive this fun, popular summertime wine category: dry rose. Are all roses created equal? I think you know we wouldn't be offering a class if that were true! In fact, you will be shocked to taste just how diverse this popular wine category can be as we explore six beautiful examples from the most famed wine regions of the world for this style. You are sure to taste through sparkling, still, French, Italian, among others... From the palest of pale to the deep pink, we will discuss and taste the full spectrum shades. We will learn how it is made, how the region and style impact flavor, how they are best applied to food pairings, and better understand why you might tend towards one versus another.

Join us and other fabulous community members as we learn about dry rose and nibble on cheese and crackers while we connect with neighbors and friends.

A Little About Our Instructor and So What Wine

Ashley Hausman Lohmer (Master of Wine and owner of So What Wine) got her start back in 2008 when stocking shelves on the upper East side to pay for her fancy graduate degree in English & American Literature at NYU.  She moved to Denver to establish her career and learn as much as she possibly could about this magical world that provided an inlet to other cultures, history, science, economy, agriculture, global cuisine, and community. She attained her WSET Diploma (a globally recognized rigorous wine education program) in 2014 and then, in 2017, Ashley became one of only about 400 Masters of Wine in the world (the only one in the North Star State) through the Institute of Masters of Wine.

Ashley has done a little bit of everything from retail and distribution to imports and academia. Her favorite, though, has been getting her hands dirty winemaking in Burgundy (Domaine Dujac), Napa (Screaming Eagle), and even trying a little of her own in Willamette among friends. She moved to Stillwater in 2020, and is thrilled to be able to finally get to know the community better through her favorite beverage. This is her life‘s dream to have a wine shop that offers classes and events around organic, artisan family wines from around the world.  Please visit her adorable wine shop at 823 4th St. S, Unit 200, Stillwater.  Just above Sara's Tipsy Pies Bakery.

Event is Thursday, August 6th, 6 - 8 pm at the store. Class may be hosted on our front deck if the weather allows or in our adorable cozy event or gathering space in the back.  Please dress accordingly.

This is an instructor-led class, taught by Master of Wine and owner of So What Wine, Ashley Hausman Lohmer.
