In this hands-on class, you’ll create two of your own “button people” ornaments using a mix of vintage and new buttons, wood beads, and ribbon. Keep one and give one to a friend or a perfect little Mother's Day gift!
You’ll learn how to thread buttons onto 26-gauge wire, playing with increasing and decreasing sizes to build shape and character. Along the way, we’ll cover basic techniques using small wire cutters and needle nose pliers, giving you just enough skill to feel confident and creative without overcomplicating the process.
It’s equal parts craft and play—perfect for anyone who loves thoughtful details, a touch of nostalgia, and leaving with something truly one-of-a-kind.
Event is April 30th (Thursday) 6 - 8 pm at our Lake Elmo store. Class will be hosted in our adorable and cozy event or gathering space in the back.
This is an instructor-led class, taught by local artist, Marlys Day.
$45 Registration Fee: Registration fee helps cover all materials/supplies along with instructor’s time for 2 ornaments.
Minimum Age to Participate: Ages 12 and up welcome. We kindly ask that younger participants are accompanied by an adult.
Handcrafted desserts by Morsels (local pastry chef) and wine provided by the only Master of Wine in the state of MN, Ashley Hausman Lohmer, owner of So What Wine.

Minimum Registrations: To hold a class, we require a minimum of 6 registrations. If we cancel a class due to minimal registrations, we will contact you within 48 hours of the class and work to either reschedule or offer you a 100% refund.
Maximum Registrations: 10 is a full class. If the class is full, please email us at hello@shoplavie.co to be added to a wait list.
Cancellation/Rescheduling Details: Up to one week prior to event: 90% refund for cancellation (or) reschedule for no additional fee. Less than one week we are unable to provide a refund for cancellation due to the nature of the class and materials already purchased. If cancellation due to weather, we will reschedule.
